COMMANDER BRACKETS
How these assessments work
Each deck page shows a Rules-Based Bracket and an Estimated Power Bracket. Neither is an official rating.
Rules-Based Bracket: the minimum
This is the lowest bracket a card list allows under the Commander bracket rules. It sets a floor, not a rating.
The pinned 53-card Game Changers list is checked by exact card name, including the commander and excluding sideboards. One to three raises the ordinary minimum to 3; more than three raises it to 4. A list with no raised minimum has not thereby earned an Exhibition or Core rating. Official Commander page and Game Changers, checked October 31, 2026.
Mass land denial and intentionally chained turns are higher-bracket restrictions. A two-card mana or counter engine is not automatically a two-card game-ending combo. Slow incidental pairs must be distinguished from consistently cheap early lethal plans. The registry is auditable but is not an exhaustive combo solver. Official original restrictions.
Tutor counts have no separate cap after the October update. Tutor quality, overlap and access still influence consistency. Updated game-length expectations make frequent early wins a concern; merely holding a line until a later turn does not resolve that mismatch. October 21, 2025 update.
Farewell and Biorhythm were added to the pinned list in February. Voluntary pregame discussion and agreed Rule Zero exceptions remain possible; thematic Exhibition exceptions are not modeled as ordinary structural legality. February 9, 2026 update.
Estimated Power Bracket: a personal estimate
This is a subjective estimate of how strongly a deck is expected to play, made from the card list alone. It is not based on tracked games and is not an official rating.
Each version has its own evidence names, setup requirements and recovery constraints. Ranges consider curve, ramp, tutor overlap, redundancy, interaction, commander dependence and the actual resources needed to finish. There is no official formula, and no win rate or guaranteed earliest turn is claimed. Competitive Bracket 5 intent is not inferred from a pile of powerful cards.
Incomplete or absent lists are not assigned a strength estimate. Arabella's list has 98 cards: the known cards can be checked for restrictions, but the two open slots may change the final result. Precon and deconstructed statuses describe source/history rather than determining a bracket.
Every deck page's expandable evidence shows what raised its minimum and the limits of its estimate. A minimum of 3 does not certify a deck as Bracket 3. A tutor-supported life-loss feedback pair may require a Bracket 4 conversation even while its auditable Game Changer lower bound is 3.
