STRATEGY · 3 PHASES

How this build plays

This prospective list defends the monarchy and turns each upkeep into a larger token population. Token-entry damage provides reach when attacking alone is awkward.

  1. 01SET THE STAGE

    Hold court behind a tax

Chief Magistrate makes you the monarch on entry. Ghostly Prison makes opponents pay for each creature attacking you, helping defend the crown without guaranteeing it. Keeping the monarchy until the upkeep trigger resolves is what enables the commander’s token-copy step.

    Chief Magistrate of Mercadia

When Chief Magistrate of Mercadia enters, you become the monarch. At the beginning of your upkeep, create a 2/1 red Goblin creature token with haste. Then if you're the monarch, for each creature token you control, create a token that's a copy of it.

    Ghostly Prison

Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays {2} for each creature they control that's attacking you.

  2. 02BUILD THE ENGINE

Let the upkeep populate the throne room

Krenko, Mob Boss adds Goblins based on your Goblin count. Chief Magistrate’s upkeep then makes its own Goblin and, if you are still monarch, copies each creature token you control. Impact Tremors deals damage to every opponent as those new creatures enter.

{T}: Create X 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens, where X is the number of Goblins you control.

    Impact Tremors

Whenever a creature you control enters, this enchantment deals 1 damage to each opponent.

  3. 03CARRY IT THROUGH

A spare token is another shot

Goblin Bombardment sacrifices a creature to deal one damage to any target, giving surplus tokens an outlet outside combat. Skullclamp can draw two cards when its equipped creature dies to that sacrifice. Equipping costs mana and the cards require the equipped creature to actually die.

Commander Bracket Assessment

Rules-Based Bracket: No raised minimumEstimated Power Bracket: Mid 3–High 3

Based on the 100-card main deck; sideboard excluded. The Rules-Based Bracket is the lowest bracket this card list allows under Commander bracket rules. The Estimated Power Bracket is a personal estimate of how strongly the deck plays. It is not an official rating.

Evidence and limitations

Rules-Based Bracket · minimum

  • No raised minimum found in the checked restrictions. This does not establish Exhibition intent, Core fit or absence of every possible combo.

Exact Game Changers: None.

Mass land denial registry: None identified in the checked registry. Modal or repeated-land targeting still requires a pregame discussion.

Your extra-turn cards: None identified in the checked registry. Opponent turns from Emrakul or gifts are not counted as your own chain.

Confirmed early two-card lethal or turn-chain flags are not inferred from keywords. This is a lower bound, not a complete combo solver or permission to delay a consistently early line until turn seven. Agreed Rule Zero / Exhibition exceptions are outside this ordinary-restriction check.

Estimated Power Bracket · Mid 3–High 3

Estimated from the card list alone, not from tracked win rates or game results.

Monarchy, token-copy upkeeps and damage outlets scale strongly together, but the commander is expensive and tutor access to exact engines is limited.

Assembly and timing: The copying step requires keeping the crown through an upkeep. Token damage can close without combat, but no cheap consistently assembled two-card finish is established.

Recovery and constraints: Token replacement and protection help rebuild, while losing the monarch or being swept before upkeep can set the plan back.

Curve: 3.36 average nonland mana value. Cheap mana/land-search text: Arcane Signet · Sol Ring · Mind Stone · Talisman of Conviction · Fellwar Stone. This text-derived reading aid is not an official score.

Search-library evidence: None identified in the checked registry. This includes restricted and land searches; efficient tutor overlap is reviewed separately above. There is no official tutor-count cap.

Fast mana indicators: Sol Ring. Conditional free interaction: None identified in the checked registry. Conditions and resource costs still apply.

Key cards: Chief Magistrate of Mercadia · Krenko, Mob Boss · Impact Tremors · Goblin Bombardment.
