How this build plays

The uploaded Villain precon uses Doom’s combat connive to filter its hand and discard lands for table-wide life loss. Discard payoffs salvage resources while recurring Villain tokens keep combat supplied.

  1. 01SET THE STAGE

    A land becomes an ultimatum

At combat, Doom can choose himself as the Villain to gain menace and connive. Discarding a land to that connive triggers his life-loss ability against every opponent. Containment Construct can exile the discarded card and let you play it that turn, still respecting land-play limits.

    Doctor Doom, King of Latveria

Whenever you discard one or more land cards, each opponent loses 2 life. At the beginning of combat on your turn, target Villain you control gains menace until end of turn. It connives. (Draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature.)

    Containment Construct

Whenever you discard a card, you may exile that card from your graveyard. If you do, you may play that card this turn.

  2. 02BUILD THE ENGINE

    Bank what you discard

Currency Converter provides its own draw-and-discard activation, so a discarded land can trigger Doom even outside the combat connive. If you exile that land with the Converter, its other tap ability can later put it into the graveyard and make a Treasure. The two tap abilities usually need different untaps.

Whenever you discard a card, you may exile that card from your graveyard. {2}, {T}: Draw a card, then discard a card. {T}: Put a card exiled with this artifact into its owner's graveyard. If it's a land card, create a Treasure token. If it's a nonland card, create a 2/2 black Rogue creature token.

  3. 03CARRY IT THROUGH

    Keep the Villains coming

Endless Ranks of HYDRA makes a menacing Villain for each opponent. When Doom attacks or enters, its graveyard trigger lets you pay to return the spell to hand for another cast. Skullclamp can turn a disposable token’s death into two cards; its +1/-1 reduces these 2/1 tokens to zero toughness, so equipping one can supply the death.

Commander Bracket Assessment

Rules-Based Bracket: No raised minimumEstimated Power Bracket: Mid 2–Low 3

Based on the 100-card main deck; sideboard excluded. The Rules-Based Bracket is the lowest bracket this card list allows under Commander bracket rules. The Estimated Power Bracket is a personal estimate of how strongly the deck plays. It is not an official rating.

Evidence and limitations

Rules-Based Bracket · minimum

  • No raised minimum found in the checked restrictions. This does not establish Exhibition intent, Core fit or absence of every possible combo.

Exact Game Changers: None.

Mass land denial registry: None identified in the checked registry. Modal or repeated-land targeting still requires a pregame discussion.

Your extra-turn cards: None identified in the checked registry. Opponent turns from Emrakul or gifts are not counted as your own chain.

Confirmed early two-card lethal or turn-chain flags are not inferred from keywords. This is a lower bound, not a complete combo solver or permission to delay a consistently early line until turn seven. Agreed Rule Zero / Exhibition exceptions are outside this ordinary-restriction check.

Estimated Power Bracket · Mid 2–Low 3

Estimated from the card list alone, not from tracked win rates or game results.

Connive and discard payoffs recycle cards while Villains attack. The relatively high curve and conditional tribal pieces slow deployment; the precon label itself is not the reason for this estimate.

Assembly and timing: Doom costs five and many threats cost more. The reviewed path needs multiple combat/development turns; no compact reliably early win was identified.

Recovery and constraints: Recurrable HYDRA tokens and discard reuse help sustain resources, but broad tutors and free protection are limited.

Curve: 3.65 average nonland mana value. Cheap mana/land-search text: Arcane Signet · Sol Ring · Talisman of Dominance · Talisman of Indulgence. This text-derived reading aid is not an official score.

Search-library evidence: Terramorphic Expanse. This includes restricted and land searches; efficient tutor overlap is reviewed separately above. There is no official tutor-count cap.

Fast mana indicators: Sol Ring. Conditional free interaction: None identified in the checked registry. Conditions and resource costs still apply.

Key cards: Doctor Doom, King of Latveria · Containment Construct · Currency Converter · Endless Ranks of HYDRA.
